I8 ADMNS Dear Friends: Can you change the conditions of your lives in New York or elsewhere? Yes, you can change your life - if you continue your training and education to help you become a Who not a What , Who you are stays with you and those who know you, long after what you do has changed. Who you are, the total of your experiences, background, choices and responses will determine how you move in the world: how you respond to changes: how you approach your problems when you're 30 or 40. Whatever is out there in the world waiting for you will demand strength, determination, hard work, clear thinking, flexibility. Your education will help you be- come a person who makes wise choices and decisions. These should not lock you in: they must open you up. lt's a full, terrible, wonderful world out there. We await you eagerly. QW f Miss Clare Bauch Assistant Principal- Administration Graduation is a happy and exciting time but also a time for serious reflection. Your decisions carry with them greater consequences than ever before and the responsibility for them is increasingly your own. My advice is to seek advice. Listen to what parents, teach- ers, and friends have to offer - accept what you believe will work for you - reject what you must, based upon reason and thought - and do not hesitate to reconsider if you suspect your decision was wrong. May the future bring you rewards and satisfaction and the good health to savor them. S. B, 5? ,def fag,,.:zs A Serving Richmond Hill High School since 1923 That has been the motto of the school newspaper - The Domino for fifty five years now and this year was no exception. Many changes took place in the staff to start the new term. Ms. T. Oropollo left the advisorship after almost five years of service. Her dedicated service and cheerful spirit has left an indelible mark on the paper and on the staff. After an absence of those years, Mr. Robert T. Marsh has returned as faculty advisor. For him it was a sentimental homecoming with reflexions on the many plaques and certificates that the Domino has been awarded for being the very best over so many years. Former editors of The Domino have been in- volved with countless college newspapers from Queens College to the papers of Michigan State. Former editors of The Domino have been employed on newspapers and news media throughout the country, from the managing editor of the now defunct Long Island Press, to CBS news radio in San Francisco. These are pleasant memories indeed. This year's staff of the editor-in-chief, Anne Marie Dezio, Shannon Cain, Sivert Rafter, Robert Kreuter, Barbara Henry and Theresa Kwong has led the paper to another proud year of service to the school community. We are greatly indebted to them. A. with five minutes left to the fourth period. The purpose of this announcement was to promote T-Shirt Day. Apparently, it mainly created havoc and frus- tration. The announcement vvas quite silly and teachers vvere frustrated. Most teachers feel that the last five minutes of the class are the most important because they summarize the vvhole lesson, Some teachers were literally out to kill the two popular hillites, Steve and Hal. l'm sure Steve and Hal's next announcement, if there is one, will be more appropriately timed. -Hal Van Bergan MKS' if--s V' 69 1 if ...'!y, Q Q Q I 3 E IHIQ GUY5. ,fd jf i e nk x r 3 4 ' L A UNI I ,Q , 5 A ,, , J I , -MN-,mf . The Senior Drama Class is designed to allow the stu- dent actors the opportunity to expand and grow as actors. The class participates in the Drama Enrichment Program which includes attending live theatre perform- ances as well as theatre lectures by such people as Tennessee Williams and Michael Bennett. Of course, the major activity of the class is the creation of the Spring Play. The students literally create a two and a half hour Broadway musical: learning the lines, songs, dances and designing the scenery. This experience turns out to be an exhilerating and fulfilling one for those students who are willing to give 'IO0'Zs and create it being as fantastic as it can be. 71 I'M SO EMBARRASSED! One memory of Richmond I-Iill High School will always be serving as the timer for the Girl's Basketball Team. In the beginning, it was rather boring. Soon, we started going to other schools, meeting other people and suddenly, it wasn't so boring. That's when I began to notice that the team wasn't just a bunch of girls, but sort of like a family - a close family. I had never experienced anything like this before, The team wasn't quite successful in achieving a good standing in basketball, but they were successful in learning to work together as in unity. - Marianne Gonzalez GIRLS' BASKETBALL Although I participated in a lot of activities at I-Iill, the most fun was cheerleading. We all put in hours and hours of rehearsal and, at first, the results were terrible. We looked bad, we sang bad and rnost of the tirne, did everything all wrong! The best thing about us was our uniforms. Eventually, we got it together and even though we only cheered at two winning games, I enjoyed every minute of it! - Rosetta Bennincasa Co-captain - Maria Martinez, Captain - Sharron Griffin, Michelle Goodwin, A n n M a r i e Montagnino, Anna Marie Ciulla, Milda Suarez, Nancy Rivera, Shirley Dempsey, lackie Flynn. Adults might think of the past, but no one thinks of a teacher as anything special, We are all born teachers. We all have a talent we can teach. But there are the blessed few that ac- tually do teach. Their rewards are headaches and laryngitisg flu caught from their students and broken eardrums. You may ask why they do it. Many say that they really don't know why, Perhaps, for some, the re- ward lies in the knowledge that they are educating the future population from which a select few that they have taught will, in turn, teach the next gener- ation and so on. - Suzanne Danet Z' li if gf. 5 l if-E1 i gg if I iv i .- KEVIN KING IRENE JAECER IILLIESELNIK BRENDA IONES CYNTHIA rgkigg Eooit mm oouc KAPLAN Aucifx kakouxsz 103 I,II,EEN KAZAS GRACE KEANE is-v :,, ,3-1, ,, is I I f s T., 'fax i -xi MAIQCQAIQIEIIQIEANIE I' 3 ' f RENNIQIH IQELLU-:ER 53: Q, 3 , 6-.f Q 'IN x I R.-XNMOINIJ RENDALL BRUCE KESSLER STEPHEN KIEEER .X X D A I III I3-XRRN RLLIX RICH KRD KLEIN RICHARD KLEPACKI IO-I RESTS ,,,,. Although we spent nearly five hours travelling to and from Washington, DC., we managed, by going at a frantic pace, to take in many of the principal sights and highlights of this historic city. Since I had never been to Washington, D.C. before, this trip was a fascinating and unique experience for me and for many others. A creative force at work, his talents added a sense of professionalism and his refusal to cooperate with the laws of gravity added numerous mishaps to our numerous mishaps. Many of his ideas were ahead of their time, many were downright impossible! Who can forget the dummy that was never wired from Soph Singg the light scene from All Together Now , Alvin on roller skates and flipping flats that kept falling during scene changes? - SD. 84 AMD. I've seen better heads on beer! PROBLEMS PLUS DELAYS Proverbs It seems as if obstacles showed up more times than the chorus. There were snow storms, parttime job priorities, music to be transposed, hangovers, apathy and lost props. Sing '77 was the beginning of a meaningful experience for me. lt taught me that while winning is fantastic, if you've done the best you can then you've won within yourself. lt showed me that people with different ideas and talents can work in unison and have a great time doing so. - Elyse Daleo ACHES, Pfxiisis, SPRAINS Together Again Sing '77 brought us together for the first time and this xear, it seems, the expression of that time has grown with the people. Soph Sing is a moment that went bv too fast: lunior sing is an extension of that moment. - Elyse Daleo 'N W. ft R-'Y Never Again! All through rehearsal, cries of never again echoed through Hazen Hall. Amazingly, none of the people who swore they would give up ever did. Some call it dedication - SD, 84 AMD. ancl WORK, A Glutton for Punishment Freshman Sing '77 was alot of fun even though I fell off the stage. l broke my wrist, chipped a tooth and had a chin the color of the rainbow. They are willing to endure hard work, laryngitis, heart burn, and no sleep. Through it all, each class manages to put it all together somehow. For me, these memories are very special. - Barbara Grady WORK, There's Always Next Year There comes a point when the experience surmounts the need to win. This is especially true when you lose.
