0I elfUOI Ours is a world of sound. Our entrance into the world at birth is announced by a cry, and all about us after that, there is sound. Above us is the sound of progress as jet planes and helicopters roar overhead, Our fondest memories are of sounds-the roar of the lion in the zoo when we were little and the music of the merry-go-round. Surrounding us are the sounds of people living their lives. We hear laughter and weep- ing. The cheers of a football game mix with the siren of an ambulance on a mission of mercy. Our times have known the sounds of war and men dying, and the sounds of victory, and the sound of rejoicing when peace was restored. There is silence too: the reverent silence of a child in Sunday School, and the shocked silence after the Dodgers lose. We, the class of 1960, feel we have already made a little noise in the world and we expect to make still bigger bangs in the years to come. We hope, most of all, that the sounds we make may harmonize with those of our fellow men in the symphony of a world at peace rather than clash in the cacaphony of war. X Ns..- ifl QQ l elf
