SYLVAN MYERS English 2 English 4 The English Department's main objective is to instruct anguage skills involved in communicating ideas and expressing emotions in reading, writing, speaking, and istening. The curriculum includes attending the theater, debating, in-class drama productions, viewing films, edi- ting class newsletters, listening to phonograph records and creating tape recordings. Tenth grade English classes emphasize the study of world iterature. In the eleventh year, American literature is instructed. Contemporary and English literature is taught in twelfth grade classes.
