nt Sponsoring Class Activities Art Department 7 Miss Robin Simmons demonstrates the technique of pencil shading to Terre Ascari Phyllis Cortez, Carol Harvath, Cleo Patrick and Steve Lipary ART CURRICULUM The various art classes give students opportunities to be creative in their work. Art students work with pencil, ink, watercolor, poster paint, linoleum block, Fourdriner tissue, and paper sculpture. The applied art students work with clay, silver, wood leather and enamels on their various projects for different effects. Commercial Art courses are open for interested students. There students are admitted after an interview with the instructor. Fine Arts Appreciation is a course which provides an opportunity for students to become acquainted with the different historical periods and how they affected the styles of art. SYLVAN MYERS English 2 English 4 The English Department's main objective is to instruct anguage skills involved in communicating ideas and expressing emotions in reading, writing, speaking, and istening. The curriculum includes attending the theater, debating, in-class drama productions, viewing films, edi- ting class newsletters, listening to phonograph records and creating tape recordings. Tenth grade English classes emphasize the study of world iterature. In the eleventh year, American literature is instructed. Contemporary and English literature is taught in twelfth grade classes.
