We H are using a textb ook on Richmond City r| Government, largely written and edited by Mr. John Enos, AmericanGovernment teach- er, World Culture is a brand new course. It aims to be interesting and informative about { such great cultural periods and persons like as in Greece, Socrates, Medieval Europe, Dauk, The Renaissance and Leonardo, India and Buddha, the Modern West and Voltaine, Goethe and Darwin. Sociology is designed to make students aware of problems they will face when enter- ing our free democratic society. It focuses mainly on problems concerning family life, including psychological, physical, philiosoph- ical, and moral aspects of the family. Better preparation for marriage is its major theme. The four large units of this new offering are (a) Latin America, (b) Communist Bloc Nations, (c) Africa, and (d) South East Asia and China. United States History is a two-semester class of the eleventh grade. A passing mark in this class is one of the legal require- ments for high school graduation in Cali- fornia, A full-year course, American Govern- ment, has replaced the former one-semester course called Civics. Computers and automation have changed and will continue to change the ' occupational and educational needs for all types of students. Our mathematics courses have been modernized to fit into the present needs of our society. College preparatory students take all or part of a five-year sequence of courses which includes Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Math Analysis, and Analytic Geometry. Trade and industrial students take Industrial Mathematics and parts of the college-prep sequence, Others take courses in practical and general mathematics to satisfy their individual needs.
