DEDICATION Miss Dorofhy Madison is more fhan a feacher fo fhousands of sfudenfs who know her. She is a gay and happy friend who has a word of en- couragemenf for everyone she meefs. This cheery aspecf reflecfs a genuine sfreak of confenfmenf in her nafure, buf if is also a fronf, covering a finely developed infelligence and greaf learning. She does nof flaunf knowledge, she never appears fo be weighfed down wifh fhoughf. Her in+eIIigence is made apparenf fhrough her own sferling char- acfer and forfhrighf acfions. Every sfudenf who came fo her for advice was eagerly welcomed: nof one was ever furned away. She was soughf by fhose who desperafely needed undersfanding and feI+ fhey could frusf no one else, as well as by fhose who had friumphs fo reporf. Every problem was a confidence, and fo if she broughf fhe weighf of her efhical sfandards, fine mind, loving hearf, and greaf scholarship. She was able fo make each sfudenf feel fhaf he had be- come a beffer, sfronger, and more adulf person for having had an encounfer wifh some difficulf . This, affer all, was Life. She made us see if as a chanenge. Her own scholasfic efforfs have made her a fine faculfy chairman for fhe scholarship program of fhe school. She has persuaded, cajoled, fhreafened, and many fimes iusf eagerly encouraged worfhy, capable sfudenfs fo underfake higher learning. Her undersfanding of fhe wonders which lay ahead for a person who would follow fhis course of menfal explorafion was fhe driving force for her encour- agemenf of fhose worfhy of fhe endeavor. Through her guidance many who would nof have ofherwise achieved fhis goal were spurred on fo earn fhe many fine scholarships available fo fhem. She is sincere and religiously loyal. Her friend- ship knows no discriminafion.
