Berkeley fell to Richmond 74-39. Next came Hayward who was defeated by the Oilers 9lV2 to 2lV2. Richmond was favored to win the Martinez Relays but du, to over-confidence and a few bad breaks Rich- mond came in second. The ACAL track feat at Berkeley proved to be one of the most exciting in a good many years. Seven records were broken with X. L. Emerson doing th, 440 in 49.7. The two contenders Richmond and Alameda fought to the end with Richmond coming out on top to win the championship. This was a fine performance by the members of the team mast of which are iuniors.
