Devil spirit brightens Homecoming Enthusiasm sparked by a hopeful victory over the Muncie Central Bearcats pervaded the 1971 Homecoming festivities. The Homecoming parade included many floats even though rainy weather hampered construction. Under large canvas tents, Music Booster’s Fish Fry fed hungry students and parents before the game. Chilly halftime activities concluded with the procession of Homecoming candidates and the crowning of Paula Marksbury, queen. In celebration of the football victory, RHS couples later danced to the music of the “Mole Line Subjects.” Pumpkins, corn stalks, doughnuts, and cider truly transformed the evening into an “Okto-berfest.” Homecoming 23

Gail Richardson studied in Mexico while Keith Ashbaugh, the first RHS student to travel on the AFS program, spent the summer with a German family.
