Students enjoy few all-school assemblies

Six sell-out performances paid an outstanding tribute to the cast and crew of “The Music Man,” the 1971 musical, a joint effort of the Concert Choir, RHS Singers, and Orchestra. Under the direction of Mr. Ray Imperial, who also directed the RHS production of “Oklahoma,” Mr. David Davenport, and Mr. Ralph Burkhardt, over 100 students participated in the Meredith Willson production. “Music Man” included such familiar tunes as “76 Trombones,” “Gary, Indiana,” and “Till There Was You.” Production numbers featured the Music Man Dancers and were choreographed by Mr. Mike Hengstler. Well-polished orchestration and bright, authentic-looking costumes added the final touches to the crowd-pleasing productions. Music Man 15

Due to the lack of student interest and concern, all-school assemblies were few and far between. Music, whether it was provided by the University of Cincinnati Singers, local rock groups, or the Concert Choir, received the most favorable student reaction. Lively pep assemblies involved both students and faculty members. Sports assemblies honored those who served RHS athletically. ABOVE LEFT: Trying out for -J.
