2300 work day-by-day Gariy-risers roamed the halls as early as 7:30. By 8:15, club meetings were well under way. Homeroom and first hour slapped sleepy RHSers in the face. Language, social studies, business, and math filled minds until fourth hour. Ravenous students then piled into the cafeteria for a “nutritious meal. The half-hour break gave friends a chance to discuss the day’s events. After their last class, be it fourth, fifth, or sixth hour, students headed for their lockers, then for home or a job. Some remained for consultation with teachers or counselors. By 4. the halls were deserted. Not knowing what each new day would bring. 2300 students labored through the 180-dav school year.

Y-Teen Mardi Gras sings “simple song” “Sing A Simple Song,’' Y-Teen’s 19th annual Mardi Gras, held an evening's entertainment for over 1500. Civic Hall warmed up quickly as fun-loving students mingled, surveying booths and greeting friends. Twenty-eight well-constructed booths attracted prize seekers with wares ranging from cardboard pitchforks, stuffed frogs, and happy faces to long-stemmed roses and free theater passes. Adding excitement to the evening was the awarding of Y-Teen doll to the best all-round booth, “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head,’’ sponsored by Vicki Beck’s Y-Teen group. The prettiest booth award went to Nancy Peter’s “Pete's Barber Shop” and Leslie Zimmer’s “The Real Thing” was chosen as the most original by a panel of faculty judges.
