SCHOOL BOARD PLANS FUNCTIONS The School Boord of the Richmond School City functions directly under Mr. Paul Garrison. It is the duty of this board to plan activities and functions of the school city os well as to carry them out. Operating from offices on tenth street, the executive board of our school city is directly responsible for the education received by the students in Richmond. The Board of Directors functions with Mr. Glenn Holder, Director of Secondary Education, to see that curricula are of the highest standard. Each member of this board is responsible for a segment of the entire network of instruction which a student receives from the ninth to the twelfth grades in Richmond city schools. 22

The most important figure in the School City of Richmond is the Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Paul C. Garrison. It is his duty to supervise the school board, and see that the plans of the board are realized. Mr. Garrison completed work at Indiana University for a B.S. degree. He has hod further education at I.U., Columbia, Colorado State, California State, and Purdue University. The School Board works closely with Mr. Garrison on all motters concerning the education which Richmond students receive. Mr. Paul C. Gorrison, Superintendent of Schools. LEADERS OF OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY One of the most familiar men at R.H.S. is Mr. Glenn Holder, Director of Secondary Education of Richmond city schools. In this office, Mr. Holder heads the supervision of curricula in Richmond's secondary schools. Mr. Glenn Holder possesses on A.B. degree from DePauw and an A M. degree from I.U. Mr. Holder received his secondary education in Richmond schools, and served on the staffs of both the school newspoper and the Pierian. Mr. Glenn Holder, Director of Secondary Education. 21

For instance, who sees to it that the text books are in good repair? Who is responsible for having Civic Hall ready for sports events and dances? Who keeps the school clean for the students? Who is in charge of McGuire Hall? Who prepares the meals for 1,000 students daily in the cafeteria? The answers to these questions are to be found on this page. Mr. Wynn takes care of Civic Hall; Mr. Michael takes care of McGuire; and Mr. Purvis is in charge of the main building. 23
