We, the Seniors of '56, Are clean cut and full of wit, We sit and talk and always fool But never, never think of school Then when rank cards come due We fret and groan and always chew But when in June it's time to go We'll all feel sad and very low, And when Mr, Perry's hand we shake Our poor, young hearts will seem to break. The teachers have helped us these twelve years To bring this night of dreaded tears, The Junior Class holds a reception To show the seniors their affections We all say we're glad to go Bur do you think it's really so? We'll miss the students and teachers 'tis true And we know that they will miss us too. Iudy RBYHO-l.dS 156 Naomi Young IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME Have you ever wanted to be a superman? Well, maybe you haven't but I know a boy who wanted to. Would you like to hear the story? It happened during the early years of 1800. A small boy of five decided he wanted to become famous. He knew he had no hidden talent so to be really famous, he thought doing something a bit out of the ordinary would be best, It was a cold, misty morning when Jack woke up, his mind full of ideas of how to fly. He descended into the barn and made a pair of wings he thought to be ideal for this special occasion, He fixed them on his back and disappeared into the houseg but as he approached the kitchen, his Mom noticed the queer-looking outiit Jack had on, When she asked why he had outfitted himself with wings, he confronted her with a lie that went something like this, 1'm an airplane. There was no further need for an- other questiong the one Jack had given his mother was quite satisfactory, He then climbed the stairs to his bedroom, approached the window, lifted it and climbed upon the sill, flapping his wings. He jumped, He didn't fly, as you can well imagine, Why? Well, you figure it out. . Maybe you can come up with a logical answer. Iack has his wish now - he flies: he has wings. But he has wings of an angel in heaven. Phyllis Fickett '57 43 1...-tx , ,-a...............:--,.......w.-fs..f.as1.....'::s:....s
