First row: M. Hinkley, C. Hurley, C. Anderson, N. White, J. Meserve. Second row: M. Perry, D. Quinnam, C. Guiou, C. Cloutier, P. Hurley, D. Wheeler, F, Hanson, E. Leibowitz, B. Hinkley, S. Howard, J. Withee, A, James, Manager. The first practice was called the last of October and of the seventeen girls re- porting, ten were veterans, The new girls were Faye Hanson, Sylvia Howard, Phyllis Hurley, Joyce Withee, Betty Hinkley, Marilyn Perry and Diana Quinnam. Ann James succeeded Donna Adams as manager. After hours of hard practice the girls started their season playing Lisbon Falls, December 1 and won 48-24. The team played ten games winning nine. Their undefeated record was broken at 57, when they played Erskine and lost 44-42. But that defeat didn't handicap the girls, who are trying hard again for another undefeated record. The girls have played swell ball and along with Coach Perry, have shown fine sportsmanship. I know I speak for everyone as well as myself whenl say the R. H.S, girls' basketball team and their coach deserve much credit, I want to wish all the luck possible to the future teams at R, H.S. and may all your seasons be successful. Sedgley, Coach, Mr. Shanelaris, The R. H.S. baseball team for the first time in the history of the school won the Western Maine Championship. By beating Lincoln Academy 11 to 9, Lisbon, who had beaten us in two previous games, by a score of 13 to Og and by edging out Bridg- ton 2 to 1 in a thriller at Petengil Park in Aubum, our first game under lights, we finally advanced to the finals, On June 13, we faced Wells High School for the championship at South Portland. This game turned out to be a marathon, but by playing heads up, alert baseball we scored a run in the last of the 14th inning to win 5 to 4. When the excitement died down we suddenly realized, we were the Champs. SEASON'S SCHEDULE .H,S, - - 20 Monmouth ---- 4 R.H.S. - - - Winthrop- , H, S, - - - 8 Erskine ------ 3 R, H, S, Lisbon- - - R.
