Withee, G. Schools. With six returning letter men QCo-Captainsj Don Chambers and A1 Tarr, George Withee, Gary Williams, Ronnie Leibowitz, Jimmy Sullivan, and a new coach Melvin Makowicki, the R. H.S. Basketball team of 53-54 had a very successful year. They added its second consecutive K.V.C. title with a 17-3 won-lost record, High lights of the season were the two wins over the scrappy Hallowell team plus the win over Jay High School team which had twice beaten Western Main Champions, Wilton High School. At the District tournament upon beating Lisbon 65-37 R. H. S. after leading all the way fell at the hands of Boothbay by one point, Playing their last game for Richmond High School were D. The R.H.S. football team of '53 enjoyed a fine season although lack of players kept the Bobcats from an impressive won-lost record. The Bobcats, led by big Norm Curtis, high-lighted the season by a 20-0 win over Hallowell at Capitol Park and holding the K.V.C. champs of Winthrop to a 12-7 score. The squad lost senior letter- men, Captain Norm Curtis, Centerg Don Chambersg Endg Paul Ranco, Backg and George Withee, Back. The grid team, coached by William Keliher are looking forward to a winning '54 season. Best of Luck Boys.
