I read the caption, “Quiet efficiency in a charming manner, and I wonder. Did she ever have a crush? Did she ever flunk a test? Did she ever skip a class to go uptown with her friends for a hamburger and a soda and lie to the principal about where she’d been? I wonder if my Future Daughter will ever stumble across some left behind memories pressed into the pages of an old, forgotten book stuck away in some corner and glance upon a familiar face and wonder. — Chris McClure The poem above won second place for Chris in the Macomb English Teachers Competition in 1986. Student Council President Scott Evans read the class history and Senior President Jackie Wilkie read the prophesy. About 75 seniors attended, dancing to the music of SKM.
