Mr. Blecker, who might well be described as Richmond High’s most popular teacher, came here three years ago in the capacity of Mathand Science teacher. The Richmond High School Band was started in the year 1919, under the direction of Jesse Burroughs. During the following years, there have been nearly 1000 youngsters who have taken lessons from Jesse. At the beginning of the school year, the Student Council decided that there was a definite need for a student court to make the council more effective in enforcing the rules and regulations passed by the council. JUNIOR RESOLUTIONS We, the class of “51,” in order to improve ourselves for our Senior year, make the following resolutions: Bill Artman - I resolve to learn where the curves in the road are before I take them. Melvin Bandlow - I resolve to stop cutting across the front lawn at noon. Fertilizer is so expensive. Francis Bartell - I resolve to donate the charred remains of my beloved car to the school, for use as fuel next year. Bonnie Beatty - I resolve to become a tap-dancer. I have to use up all these heel-plates somehow. Gladys Bobcean - I resolve to keep my brother “Bo” off the necks of the so-called drivers in the class of “51.” John Boyd - I resolve not to run over the time that I’m excused to go deer-hunting. Howard Braga - I resolve to come out from behind the post in the History room. I get lonely back there. Phyllis Chase - I resolve to let my hair grow as long as Shirley King’s. Bill Szymanski - I resolve to stop wearing my BrownCity school sweater before the Varsity Club catches me. 39 in iMmoninm During the school year of 1949-50, Richmond High School lost two of s|j its best-liked members. p I Bill Priestap, popular member of the Junior class, and Herbert Orchard, janitor and friend to students and faculty alike. Bill met his tragic and unexpected death in an auto accident in the late Fall. Mr. Orchard’s death occured in mid-winter, as the climax to 8} a series of strokes.
