Newly reinstated for the school year was the Creative Academic Program (CAP) for talented high school students. The program was under the direction of Alice Carlin. Parking stickers became required fare for faculty and students. Chuck Martin was one of the first to obtain his and mark his car. Room 229 and Dr. John Beale became the new setting for freshmen students in College Preparatory English. Paul Szabo, also now to RHHS, nods his approval for this arrangement New, LOOK BE NEATH THE fresh, and different. These words defined the image of the school. Although with Mrs.Raiff, from the previous year, came a new set of rules. Students received handbooks in homeroom which outlined new rules for parking, new classes, and a new schedule including a fifth period for lunch. Everything had changed. AN OVERALL Mr. Schmook? Mrs. Hunter? What Mr. ManOS? had happened? Who were these people? These questions were most frequently asked. It seemed as though the faculty had also undergone a change. These were the new teachers in the subjects ranging from science to art. Along with these new teachers there were the new students as well. The largest class was the Class of ' 89 and they quickly let it be known that they would be heard from. The entire population appeared to have done a COMPLETE ABOUT FACE. Responsible for teaching world history and economices is Phil Schmook- This is his first teaching position and he has also assumed coaching responsibilities in basketball and cross country. A new addition to the guidance progr am is Janice Berwald. As guidance secretary she deals with students, teachers, and parents, and assists the two guidance counselors. On a bright September day, Maya Solomon finds an alternative to study hall. Unfortunately bright summer days ceased to exist in November.
