The Richland Chapter of the National Honor Society is known as the Torch Club. The group had lunch together every other Thursday. Their meetings dealt with subjects and projects that could improve conditions around school. Membership in the Club is obtained by invitations, after faculty approval. Scholarship is one of the principle requirements for consideration. Rho Eta Sigma A Pep Club was organized, under the sponsorship of Mrs. Roberta Kerr, for the first time and started activities about the middle of the basketball season. Commonly known as the Racket Squad, they used a special bus for out-of-town games and formed the nucleus for a cheering section--both at home and away. They made a colorful addition to athletic activities. FRONT ROW: Left to Right, Steve Rusk, Fred George, Harry Thomas, Bill Allen, Iohnny Adrian, Danny Reed, Alan Rusk. Club members pictured above comprise the Richland unit of the SoKeo Club which included Pekin and Hedrick units. Each unit played host to the entire Club for one meeting each during the year in addition to their local activities. A county-wide meeting was canceled because of bad weather but one is planned for next year as well as Prospective Teachers day and other activities. Any student wishing to explore the possibilities offered by the teaching profession was allowed to attend Club meetings. SEATED: Clockwlse, John I-I.
