The Season Richland played as a member of the Keomah League of 8-man football teams. It opened their season at home against Hedrick. The Tigers led until the closing moments of the game when Hedrick managed to score and gained a 6 to 6 tie. The following week at New Sharon the Tigers were beset with injuries which plagued them for the rest of the season with Stephenson, Schultz, and Robertson all side-lined. New Sharon scored a 67 to 28 victory. At home against What Cheer the following week the lead changed hands several times before the Tigers bowed 25 to 13. At Qllovilia, again short handed and playing under poor conditions , the boys gave a good account of H themselves, but lost 31 to 18. The next game with Delta on the home field was a free scoring affair with man-power again being the deciding factor in Delta's favor 46 to 34. At Bussey on October 19, again the score was close until the final quarter when Bussey won 40 to 20. The final game of the season was with Brighton, whose undefeated Bears used their powerful offense, for a 46 to 28 victory. Iay Swartzwelter and Larry Smith were selected as All-State center and halfback respectively for schools sponsoring 8-man football. The Seniors The four boys pictured at the left repre- sented the Seniors on this year's small squad. Their loss will be keenly felt next year as two of them were considered as All-State calibre as stated above. They are from left to right: Dennis Kelly, Keith Sasseen, Iay Swartzwelter, Larry Smith. 43
