THE PLUTES MR. BERNARD ONERHEIM Julia McCracken Kathy Dupuis Public School Music Instructor, Director of Band, , Diana Peterson Cheryl Starr Donna Adam Mixed Chorus, Boys' and Girls' Glee Club. Music Department Activities Among the most prominent organizations of Richland High School are the instrumental and vocal music groups. The honors won by these groups have brought a sense of pride to our school and to the entire COIT1U1U1'1i'fY- The Marching Band appeared at all home football games and last fall they marched in the Brighton Homecoming Parade, as well as our own, and participated in the Pancake Day parade at Centerville. They have appeared in the Fourth of July parade at Ottumwa for the past three years. Each year they exchange concerts with area schools. This year's trip took them to' Fremont and Eddyville. , In October they entered the State Marching Band contest for the first time and received a Divi- sion I Rating in their appearance at Mount Pleasant. The Concert Band took part in the Keokuk County Music Festival and in their appearance in the State Music Contest at Farmington on May 4, they were awarded a Division I Rating, marking the fifth consecutive year they have been so honor- ed. The Solo and Ensemble 'groups received sixteen Division I Ratings in the State Contest at Delta on April 12-13 to add to the seventeenthey received at the State Contest a year ago, The Band also presents a series of Summer Concerts in the Richland City Park. They are avail- able for any school program such as Open House or Award Assembly. They have always been well received wherever they have appeared. V33
