The Tigers P The Tigers finished the basketball season with a 15 and 6 record, The defending County Champs lost a real thriller in the first round of the County Tourney to Keota to end their hopes of a repeat performance as County Champions, The boys won their first game in the Sectional Tournament, whipping Packwood 43-27, but were dumped by a strong Cedar team in the Semifinals, ' The boys also lost a game in an invitational inter-regional basketball jarnboree at Belle Plaine, The boys played Keystone, one of the highly re- garded Class B teams in that section of the state and made a real battle of it during the first half, but were unable to hit in the second half and it caused the downfall of the Tigers, The Tigers lose only two members of this yeai-'s squadg Bob Curtis and Don Fritchen and we are all hoping for a good season next year, Richland High School Boys' Season's Record 1953-1.954 . 55 Ollie 38 COUNTY TOURNAMENT 49 Hedrick 35 50 Fairfield J, V, 33 37 Keota 41 53 Kinross 37 33 Keota 56 SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT 52 New Sharon 49 50 Brighton 37 43 Packwood 27 60 Walsh 42 25 Cedar 47 62. MILLIE HINSHAW 5' 4 ' Guard Mi11y's outstanding defensive play during the past two years was a very important factor in getting to the state tourney in '53 and to the finals of the District in '54, VIRGINIA NEIL 5' 4 Forward Ginny has a 31,1 scoring average for the year of 1954, She holds the scoring record of 71 points on our home floor, Ginny, a flashy ball player, was outstanding in the State Tournament of '53 and District of '54, We'1I Miss Them DON FRITCHEN 6' 3 Center Don has played first team center since his Freshman year, He was elected to the first team in the G county last year, He has a scoring average of 12.5 points a game, BOB CURTIS 6' 3 Forward Bob played first team his last three years of high school and was elected to the first team in the county during his junior year and received honor- able mention on the all-state honor roll.
