The Future Homemakers of America, a national organization, furthers the interest in home economics. F.H.A. gives the girls experience in planning and carrying out activities that pertain to everyday life. This year the chapter officers went to the officers workshop at Newburg. Elaine Warren and Candy Sams, our Regional Officers, attended a F.H.A. camp during the summer and brought back many new ideas for our chapter. The first semester members sold cook books on desserts, vegetables, meats, and salads to raise money. Curtis Magazines and Stanley Products are also being sold to raise money for our trip to St. Louis this spring. Every girl tries her best to accumlate enough points to enable her to go on the trip. The girls look forward to this trip with anticipation. 68 In the spring, a fashion show will be held. The Home Economics Department puts on this show with the help of every girl. Each girl models the clothes she has constructed. The Home Economics III class gets to model clothes from the local clothing stores. This is always an exciting time as each girl tries to be a profes- sional model. F.H.A. has had a very good year that is worth remembering. The senior girls of F.H.A. want to express their appreciation for this organization. We have learned many useful things and are proud to have belonged to this fine organization. Our thanks goes to our Chapter Mothers: Mrs. Vandergriff, Mrs. Ogle, Mrs. Seay, Mrs. Gilbert, and Mrs. Murphy, who have so patiently guided us while on trips. He not only sup- ported the Bears but stressed school spirit. We appreciate all that Coach lias done for our team and our school. The A” team Bears went into the season with the spirit needed for success. This year's team was one of the best we've had, and the increased competition proved to make the year a challanging one. Among the Bear's trophies was one received for good sportsmanship. The Bears had a lot of pride in their team and accepted their vic- tories and defeats equally well. We were all very proud of our Bears. The girls who backed the Bear's A team were Janis Brockman, Liz Elam, Marsha Magee, Judy Sears, and Betty Seay. They promoted school spirit. They supported their team ana shared their disappointments and their joy- ous moments. The 'B team of the Richland Bears had a season of high morale and determination. Their victories, as well as their defeats, were accepted with pride and good sportsmanship. The B team was highly respected by the school and their opponents. We appreciate this outstanding B team and the bright future it offers for the Bears 90 The “B” Team Bears The enthusiasm of the B team was inspired by Mary Fowler, Tamarah Prewett, Linnie Magee, Diane Murphy, and Karen Ogle. The B team cheerleaders Dacked their team through victory and defeat. They helped boost the morale of the team. I cannot always see the plan on which He builds my life For oft the sound of hammers, blow on blow, the noise of strife Confuse me till I quite forget He knows and oversees, And that in all details with His good plan my life agrees. I cannot always know and understand the Master's rule; I cannot always do the tasks He gives in life's hard school, But I am learning with His help to solve them one by one, And when I cannot understand, to say Thy will be done. V ■ - g R 'v ■ v••Mf ils V-..V’:- J. A. Murphy We, the seniors of 1968, dedicate our annual to the memory of our friend and fellow student, James Adair Murphy III. His untimely death in June of 1967 was felt by everyone. We will all remember his warm smile and joy he brought into our hearts when- ever we were near him. I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. 1 14 John 11: 25-26 H H DEPARTMENT STORE Bobby's Shopping Center Clothes for The Entire Family Compliments to Class of '68 ROAM HARDWARE Phone 336-4023 Richland, Missouri Phone 765-4441 St. Roberts For Up-to-Date News Read The RALPH G. And oh, the glamor of that thought! Success! the world is mine! and naught Can dim the gleam mine eyes have caught! And yet—and yet— As years go by you'll come to know Success is work in which you throw The best you have, the best you know, With no regret. For after all, a job well done.
