Class History In September, 1946, a group of wide-eyed children entered the doors of the first grade into the loving arms of Mrs. Martha Simpson. The ones that have remained throughout the next 12 years of schooling were: MARTHA BAILEY, DOREL EAKEN, JACKSON SHEELEY, BILL SHIPLEY, LARRY CECIL SMITH, RAYMOND WARDEN, and CLYDE WILSON. Also with us were: CARL WATSON, EDDIE POSTEN, PAT FELDMILLER, WAYNE ANDERSON, MARILYN BLACK, LARRY WATSON, and MARGARET OGLE. Our second year Larry and Margaret ceased to be with us, but PAT HANCOCK joined our happy troop under the guidance of Miss Gray. The year 1948 found us in the third grade, with Miss Martha Hoover as teacher. Larry Watson rejoined us. The pride of our hearts was the colorful Spanish display we made. As capable fourth graders, we received VIOLET and VERA ANDERSON, HELEN JONES, BILLIE KAY ROAM, and MARGARET OGLE to our class, under the wing of Miss Betty Boyd. We lost Pat Feldmiller and Eddie Posten. Miss Maye Robinson piloted us through our fifth year. We gained KAY SCOTT, and JEAN ROBESON while finding that Marilyn, Vera, Violet, and Carl were no longer with us. New members in our sixth year were JUDY WELLNER and RAY HOLDMAN. Carl's familiar face appeared back with us. Mr. Leonard Hughes was our teacher. As proud Junior-Highers, we entered the seventh grade under the capable guidance of Miss Pauline Thornsberry and Mr. Fred Harris. JACK McLAIN joined our class. At the end of the year we found out that Marilyn, Wayne, and Carl would attend Laquey their eighth year. In 1953, we were in the eighth grade, eagerly looking forward to graduation, with the hope that we would all graduate. Mrs. Pauline Strain and Mrs. Louisa Peterson finally succeeded in their efforts, and in May, 1954, each of us walked forward to receive his diploma. About half of our number joined us as freshmen. These were: LINDA NICKS, RUBY WALKER, BILL LARSON, CAROLYN MILLER, RONALD HENDRIX, JOYCE RAYL, DAVID BOREN, WILMA SMITH, FRANKIE DYE, VERA and VIOLET ANDERSON, WAYNE ANDERSON, PAT FELDMILLER, CARL WATSON and EDDIE POSTEN. As Green Freshmen, we didn't get all the bad kicks. Two wonderful sponsors, Miss McFarland and Mr. Prewett, were selected to remain with us throughout our four years of high school. TALMADGE McDANIEL came to R. H. S. our Sophomore year. Our class trip to Rockaway Beach was the outstanding feature. Our Junior year, Mr. Schrimsher, our former superintendent, moved to Columbia; consequently, we lost a valuable student. Bill Schrimsher. To join our midst were LARRY JOE SANDERS, DIANNA APPLEBY, and KEN GREELY. In 1957 , we were SENIORS. JOHN STEFFY and STAN GEARHEART joined our happy carefree throng. The only student to leave our class thus far has been Jack McLain, a most admired student and a great contribution to any senior class. Our greatest goal: Our Senior Trip. For the past 12 years we have looked forward to the day we would receive our diplomas and walk through the doors to a future of our own making. But I am sure that we all shall always look back on dear ole R. H. S. with warmth in our hearts and fond memories. 16
