Class Representatives 1 2W icaUon In appreciation of a wonderful friend and teacher, we the class of 1956 wish to dedicate this annual to Mrs. Maxine Dippert. She has willingly given her time and guidance to the graduating class during the years she has been with us. We would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her years of un- ceasing work on our behalf. fPronh opnecy While I, a Senior, was running around MR. H. S. , trying to look dignified and still succeed to get my work in before Graduation Day, I had the misfortune to trip on an acorn left on the floor by some careless Freshman. Althouth I looked no different, except for the expression on my face, my mind had wander- ed ahead ten years. I saw my classmates in amazing scenes of world wide activities. Bobby Bade is in India, and owns many harems. Bobby Baker, George Berry, and Jerry Black are famous for their new do-it-yourself kits. Kenneth Davenport is a rich farmer now. He’ll marry Kathie or Jackie soon now. He just doesn't know which one. Paul Carnes is now preaching to his wife and his congregation. Tommy Dodson is now a part-time artist and baseball player. Wayne Eakens and Jesse Groce are working on a chicken farm for shares. They get all the bad eggs. Robert Jackson now owns the Fort Wood Theatre. He is a former famous actor. Danny Dye and Robert Howlett are running a dance studio at Laquey. Jo Anne Hammock is now secretary to the President of the United States. Price Keller and Gary Powers are basketball coaches at Drury and Bolivar Colleges. Jim McLain and Rex Noe are living in Hollywood, married to two famous actresses. They are also touring the nation with their famous debate teams. Louis Hurley has taken over Jack Webb’s police force. Doris Ogle is now a nurse in Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Waylene Polly is now working for the Shoe Factory in Richland. Joyce Scott and her husband now run the Yellow Rose Cafe in Texas. Emma Bailey is undecided whether to marry Bill, Walter, or one of many other suitors. Elaine Hendrix and Murray Brown are married and living in Birmingham, Alabama. Sue Ramsey is now a grade school teacher in Lebanon. C. J. Scott has finally settled down with Shirley Davis. Shirley Shelton has a very prosperous kissing booth at $5.00 per kiss. Oliver Thompson is a successful salesman traveling all the world over. Morris Williams attended college, and is now a college professor. Verda Watson will soon take Esther William's place; that is, if she ever learns to swim. Wilda Appling teaches Home Economics in a Springfield High School. Diane Downing has a music academy just around the corner. Fern Perkins, surprisingly enough, is a teacher too. She teaches pep squads. 4 MR. FULBRIGHT Vocational Agriculture MRS. DIPPERT English MR. PREWITT Principal - Math 6 WARDEN’S CAFE RICHLAND 5 AND 10 da ss (t story In the year of 1944, Monday morning at 9:00 A. M. twenty-eight tots entered the Richland Grade School. Our first teacher, Mrs. Martin, seemed very dis- appointed in us and decided to leave. After four other teachers, we finally wound up with Mrs. Clarice Appling. Those attending with us were Tommy Dodson, Wilda Appling, Robert Jackson, Gary Powers, Fern Perkins, Bobby Bade, Evelyn Powers, Verda Watson, Morris Williams, Warren Pemberton, Shirley Wilson, Wayne Eakens, Doris Ogle, and Joyce Scott. We read Dick and Jane. In our second year we gained a few. Those were Shirley Shelton, Marilyn Brandon, Paul Carnes, and Oliver Thompson. Our teacher was Mrs. Newcome, who was very patient through our rowdyness. In the third grade we gained a few who remained with us. They are Rex Noe, Jerry Black, and Robert Howlett. Miss Velma Robinson was our first teacher, she later married and left us. Mrs. Meta Chalfant then took over. We made a dictionary that year and wrote our numbers to i0, 000. We also learned to multiply. Miss Betty Boyd stayed with us throughout the fourth year. We made a grocery store and paper money. We also wrote radio scripts. Mrs. Ethel Batterton greeted us our fifth year. She introduced us to the fract- ions and to strict ruling. We presented a play that year, titled The Princess that Couldn't Cry . We gained Sue Ramsey that year. The sixth grade we were greeted by Mrs. Batterton again. During that year we were broken from the habit of whispering. We also had a health chart that year which proved that we were immaculate ? (meaning clean) The seventh grade brought us three new students. These were Emma Bailey, Price Keller, and C. J. Scott. Our teachers were Miss Pauline Thornsberry, and Freddie Harris. We were very proud to be promoted upstairs. We joined the eighth grade for our class trip and went to Stark Caverns and Lake of the Ozarks. Our same teachers remained with us through the eighth grade. We had one new student Jesse Groce. We sponsored a scrap iron drive that year to send us along with the seventh grade to St. Louis for our trip. Next came high school with many new classmates. The classmates were George Berry, Elaine Hendrix, JoAnn Hammock, Diane Downing, Dannie Dye, Louis Hurley, Kenneth Davenport. Miss McFarland was our sponsor and our trip took us to Jefferson City, and Lake of the Ozarks. Many of us took part in the Operetta, The Bells of Corneville. The tenth year brought us a new student, Jim McLain. Our activities that year included a part in the operetta, The Fortune Teller, a skating party to Lebanon, a scavenger hunt, and a class trip to St. Louis. Our sponsor for that year was Mr. Moffatt. We were gradually climbing to the top. We were in our eleventh year with two wonderful sponsors. Mrs. Dippert and Mr. Fulbright. We ordered our class rings early and received them in February of our Junior year. In spite of the rain we took a trip to the Lake and that evening to Lebanon skating, and the movies. We presented a play, Lost Horizon. We provided the seniors with a very colorful banquet. The theme was String of Pearls . After the banquet, we took an enjoyable trip on the Larry Don at the Lake of the Ozarks. Now we are at the top. Apparently our sponsors liked us and wanted to continue with us. The Juniors have provided us with a very nice banquet. We have had many parties this year which included a Sadie Hawkins Stomp. Our Senior trip took us on a three day vacation to Lake Taneycomo. We had our Senior pictures taken and we ordered our caps and gowns, cards and invitations. We gave five plays this year. They were Our Hearts Were Young and Gay, I'm a Fool, House with the Twisty Windows, Fifteenth Candle, and Ramona. Preparing the annual has been one of the highlights of this year. We sincerely hope that all remaining classes enjoy their Senior year as we have. 8 REX NOE F.F.A................... 1,2, 3, 4 F.F.A.
