Beginning Of School August 27, 1981 ... first day of school. Like many other first days, the sophomores were lost, the juniors were glad they weren’t sophomores, and the seniors were enjoying their last first day.” It didn’t take long before everyone was settled into his her new schedule and the excitement of meeting new people and seeing old friends faded away. Then it was time for business. There were class officers to elect, a newspaper to run, sports to be played, pictures to be taken, homecoming festivities to be planned, and school rings to be ordered. Students had become involved in their new classes and activities, and another beginning had ended. 1. Sophomores purchase their school rings. 2. These girls must be discussing their last math test. 3. Let me see your mirror. 4. And then what happened? asks Kathy Johnson. 5. Did you lorget your locker combination? 6. r The Best Of Times I Homecoming 1981 was a victorious and fun-filled week. Mr. Maas reported that all of our athletic teams were doing extremely well, and the week provided a chance to see the livelier side of everyone. On Wednesday night, the excitement was high as Jeff Scott and Nancy Wood announced the 1981 Homecoming Queen, Barb Ketchem. Before the pep test on Friday, seniors, cheerleaders, and band members marched through the halls enthusiastically. Friday night the undefeated Spartan football team continued its record by defeating St. Louis Park 20-0. Homecoming week ended with the dance on Saturday night. The theme of the dance was The Best of Times, and couples danced -J to the music of Nightline. m Homecoming
