How did I know she had a friend, who had a friend, who had a friend . . 9 It's obviously an early Rembrandt. but da Vinci is so much easier to sign. 'This is first year work. Maybe I should have given it to a first year class. One picture is worth a thousand words. Need we say more? Have a lemon drop? This has probably been one of the most frequently asked questions around Richfield High School. The originator —Mr. Kohl, of course! His lively interest in school activities has seen our school through seven years of Psychology courses, ever-changing tap lines, and the herculean task of the annual Variety Show. His ever-ready sense of humor and amicable attitude arc conveyed to all those with whom he comes in contact. His spirit, wit, friendliness, talent and leadership have served our school well. We the staff proudly and gratefully dedicate this, the 1961 AurcAn, to Mr. Wesley Kohl. II This marked the seventeenth year of service to the Richfield School System by Mr. Harry Rumpel. As superintendent, he is responsible for planning a suitable curriculum, supervising the faculty, and keeping the public informed of the activities of the school board and its administration. Mr. Carlton Lytle, assistant superintendent, has been with the Richfield School System for six years. His duties are to aid the superintendent in ever)' way possible. 12 The Richfield Board of Education is the organization responsible for decisions on educational policies toward students in the Richfield School System. Pictured below are Albert J. Mayer, Carlton W. Lytle, Harr)' E. Rumpel, Velma Astlcford, Robert B. Gunderson, Kenneth V. Johnson. Kenneth Forsland. and Lorin Gasterland. PRINCIPAL S MESSAGE To the Seniors: One of the things that sustains any school faculty member, kindergarten teacher through superintendent of schools, is the pleasant memory of the hundreds of fine young people with whom he has been privileged to work over the years. You are Richfield High School as you go out into the world of work or pursue further formal education. Just as a person can stand at the side of a pool and sec his reflection, so should Richfield High School see its reflection in you. It is hoped that your school system has left some distinguishing mark of a free man and woman upon you; enough so that people might say, “I know him not by the cut of his clothes, but by the things he lives for. Sincerely, Clair Bartosh 13 Mr. Alfred Krinkc received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Hamline University. His duties as assistant principal include handling attendance reports and school discipline. The position of attendance officer was added to the high school administration this year. Mr. Gene Olive, former physical education teacher, held this position. COUNSELORS 14 Mr. Robert Christianson, Miss Lavonnc Wcssman, Miss Genevieve Wise, and Mr. Frederick Gilbert. NURSE Mrs. Kathleen Shaughnessy has been with RHS three years. She administers vision tests and hearing tests and is responsible for the immunization shots which both the student body and faculty receive. OFFICE STAFF Richfield High School is kept a smooth-running machine through the help of the office staff. Mrs. Lola Augustine, Mrs. Jeanne Thorton, Mrs. Ester Grabar, Mrs. Martha Haugen. Mrs. Alice Jensen. Miss Ardic Schultz. LIBRARY STAFF Both the students and the teachers of Richfield High School find this department helpful in connection with their class studies. 15 Miss Dorothy Wansmos and Miss Francis Vail.
