0 . Seated: Mary Ahlquist, Vice President, Jerry Laitala, President. Standing: Barbara Swanson, Treasurer, Judy Dewey, Secretary. We were finally seniors-at last it was here- This, they all told us, would be our best year. With our new football team the school spirit rose high, But our band was still marching in shirts and bow tie. Our First Birthday Party, that was so much fun: You were a pink elephant if you didn't come- What a swell auditorium, where many a tear Was shed as we realized this was our last year. And the band came a marching in new red and whites . . . The new school song, which we sang that night . . . Remember the queens and solemn coronation, And the dance that ended that big celebration? Then came Sadie Hawkins when the boys had no chance To choose who they wanted to bring to the dance. And the Mardi Gras with its costumes and dress- The traditional dance that's always a success. The proms and the parties-the Senior Class play, But still there is coming a more memorable day Graduation, of course, when we file by twos Out into the life and vocation we choose. The flowing white robes, the red-tasseled caps. The smiles, the handshakes, the pats on the back, The sadness, the gladness, the speeches and songs . . . 'Twas a night which will not be forgotten for long, When we pass through these doors for the very last time, And with fateful finality they close from behind. There are new doors ahead, 'through which we must pass, But we'll never forget being the '56.cIass.
