The follow- ing is an excerpt from that first issue: “Each day means challenge ... To attain knowledge To succeed in all we do Thus the staff of the yearbook selected a name signifying the highest pinnacle on which the eagle builds its nest — The Aerie May we ever reach upward.” 1968 Aerie We, the members of the journal- ism class, take PRIDE in presenting to you the 1980 Aerie. 2 2 1. Teacher representation at the board meetings proved to be a major break- through in the promotion of teacher-parent communi- cations. Fund-raising projects consisted of a cookie sale, a square dance, and a family portrait day, with proceeds being used for a new duplicator, a scholarship, and Teacher Appreciation Day. Other services provided by this energetic and dedicated group were a memorial shrubbery plan, concessions at the Halloween Carni- val, and gravel for the teacher parking area. Setting its sights high, the PTO has undertaken the challenge of securing a much needed curtain for the stage in the gymnasium. 3 1. OFFICERS: Mrs. Jerry Kinley, Pres.; Mr. E. L. Records fell like opponents — Alex Westbrook’s 1,057 yards in only nine games; 46 points in the first half against King; and finally, the 56-7 vic- tory over Catawba.
