Carroll Taylor. A native of Bennetts ville and a graduate of Erskine College, Mr. Taylor was the founding headmaster of Coastal Academy in Myrtle Beach where he served for eight years. Since his arrival, positive strides have been made in the development of our school. He has succeeded in enhancing the appearance of the buildings and grounds and in expanding the curriculum. Also under his direction and influence, the general morale of the Richard Winn family has improved. RfM 1. OFFICERS: Robert E. Patrick, Patrick, Jr., M, W. Chappell. Jr., President; William P. We see him smiling As he looks down on us. For he just caught a pass, Lord, And won the game for Thee. — Margaret P. Power John Stewart Harmon February 19,1961-December 29 1978 THE FINAL GAME We know You call the plays. Lord, In this heated game of Life — It’s up to us to catch the ball When competition's rife. For soon the game is over — One team wins; one will lose; The time to call the final score Is never ours to choose. Sometimes it happens quickly — No time left to exclaim; “Run! Block! Pass! or Tackle!” Just time to play the game. He gave the game his best, God, Through all his youthful years — And as we sit and sadly muse, We watch him through our tears. 45 47 Student Council L Lee Dorrier, President; Jennifer Pope, Secretary; Randy Fowler, Vice-President; Charles Ayers, Treasurer. 2. A novel addition to the curriculum this year, the Journalism Class was responsible for the editing of Poor Richard's Almanack and the 1979 Aerie. Working alternately and sometimes simultaneously on the two projects proved to be a challenge, but all participants agree that the new system is a marked improvement, providing time during school for the staff to plan and work together and allowing more imvolvement on the part of more students. The seniors who comprised the class invested much time and effort in preparing the newspaper and take great pride in presenting to you the 1979 Aerie. 50 Poor Richard's Almanack 1. A square dance, a hash sale, and a raffle netted sufficient funds to purchase a new piano for the Academy. t. (Standing) J. Pope Brooks, Jr., President; John T.
