There is no way to show the hard work that they do while preparing a lesson, or the countless hours that they spend making out references for college. Also, much of their time is spent in worrying about students and talking with parents. Newcomers to the Upper School Faculty Miss Judith Bouknight is a graduate of Mid Carolina High School in Prosperity. She received a B.S. degree in Biology from Newberry College and also attended the University of South Carolina, Ander- son College, and Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. A registered nurse, she taught operating room nursing at Clemson. Before coming to Richard Winn, she taught at the Fairfield County Vocational School. Miss Bouknight teaches 7th, 8th, and 9th grade science and two classes of Biology. She is also the sponsor for the newspaper and the S.G.W. Club. In her spare time, she enjoys music and art in addition to her work at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Mr. Garrett Allen grew up in Maryland where he graduated from the Robert E. Perry High School of Rockville in 1 971. A sophomore at the University of South Carolina, he is majoring in classical stud- ies. Mr. Allen teaches Latin I and II. He joined our faculty in March to complete the year for Miss Bertha Dunlap who left because of ill- ness. His favorite hobby is archery. m Miss Sophie Young was born in Clinton, South Carolina. She attended Clinton High School where she received her diploma in 1 968. She later attended Presbyterian College, majoring in French and English. She continued her education by doing graduate work at the University of Tennessee. Miss Young teaches English 8, II, III, IV, and Advanced Compos- ition. She also is the sponsor of the Literary Staff of the annual. Her hobbies include guitar and painting. 16
