Miss Fern Will Mr. James Vargo Assistant Principals worry about attendance and assemblies. Mr. Joseph Reiff Assistant Principals are wonderful creations. They make P.A. announcements, sign all sorts of slips, write countless memoranda, organize the school calendar, calm troubled parents, visit classes, supervise activities, approve projects, arrange for assemblies, discipline unruly students, and cope with the thousands of administrative problems which arise every day. This year, two Assistant Principals faced their gigantic tasks for the first time. Mr. Reiff and Mr. Vargo, both new to RM’s Administration, quickly gained the experience that made them as competent as the “old” Assistant Principals. FACULTY • 11

“To Those Who See” may well be a modern version of Shakespeare’s quotation, “Learning adds precious seeing to the eye.” Learning is a desire for knowledge, a taste for philosophy, a capacity to explore, to question, and to perceive relationships between fields of knowledge and experience. It is my sincere hope that the many learning experiences available to you at RMHS will broaden your vision and add much precious seeing to your eye. For one sees not only with his eyes, but through his mind, his thoughts, and his actions. Seeing is one of the five senses meant to be preserved and used for meaningful and beneficial purposes. One sees only bark and leaves, not the total beauty of a tree, unless he understands the phenomena of growth from a tiny seed. Perception comes to the individual when facts can be compared; conclusions can be drawn; privileges can be met with responsibility. Full appreciation for a beautiful painting or an attractive building doesn’t come until the complexities of design and construction are understood. Laughter and love, pain and loneliness, the challenge of accomplishment in living, and the depths of insight into beauty and trouble will go on forever. Learning is not a one-step or timed process; it continues throughout life. Likewise, seeing is a never-ending continuous project. As human beings exposed to society and external forces, we must have open minds to receive and make use of newly gained knowledge. The most important function of education at any level is to develop the “seeing” of the individual and the significance of his life to himself and others. 10 • ADMINISTRATION

Miss Grace Smith, Head of the Guidance Department Mr. Rudolph Crispeno Counselors solve every problem from schedules to scholarships. Mr. Leon Horner Mr. Ray Hull 12 • FACULTY Second to receiving a good education in 1966 and ’67 for R.M.H.S. students was finding self-direction for the future. Assisting students in this most auspicious endeavor were the Guidance Counselors. Whether it was choosing a college, or finding a career, the Counselors helped students make key decisions. The Counselors’ job was by no means an easy one. Each Counselor was responsible for over four hundred students, but somehow each had time to give his full attention to every one. College Night, in December, an important project of the Guidance Department, provided an informative evening for college-bound students. Mrs. Ruth Oass
