Mr. Jewell's door is always open to any student or teacher with a problem. S., East Tennessee State College, M.A., East Tennessee State College; Sophomore Counselor Headed by our principal, Mr. Guy Jewell, our administra- tive staff successfully accomplished their many duties. The assistant principal Mr. Levin Comly could be heard yelling down the length of the empty hall, What are you doing out of class, son? Mr. Calvin Blatt, also an assistant principal, roamed through the cafeteria at lunch time chatting and joking with munching students. In addition to these personal encounters, the assistant principals handled routine problems such as discipline, attendance and the school calendar. Miss Will, the administrative assistant, spent many hours each day preparing special reports for the central office and keeping track of records of twelfth grade discipline. To help Mr. Jewell keep the school running efficiently, Mrs. Nicewarner and Mrs. Leatherman, our office secretaries, handled the paper- F. Mrs. Ward, the registrar, completed transcripts for college-bound students. Across the hall from the main office, our counselors ad- vised us on course requirements and academic problems. Mr. Horner and Mr. Hull counseled the sophomores, Mrs. Oass encouraged juniors to take the P.S.A.T. in preparation for col- lege boards, and Miss Smith spent many conference hours with seniors. Notifying seniors of College Boards Examination dates and writing college recommendations was also part of her job. Mrs. Ewan handled the secretarial work in the conuselor's office. Giving first aid to those of us injured in gym was Mrs. Henderson, our school nurse. And keeping us well-fed at lunch was the job of our cafeteria staff. MARY S.
