From seniors puzzling over lines and spheres to freshmen grasping the fundamentals of business math, we understand and accept the challenge given by our math department. Under the able direction of Mrs. Carpenter, Mr. Hur- ley and Mr. Sacco, the theorems of Plane Geometry be- come familiar helpful friends, iust as the world of in- terest and insurance become familiar to us in business math courses taught by Mr. Hurley and Mrs. Carpenter. The intricacies of senior math and Algebra ll also make themselves known and understood by Mr. Coblentz, DWIGHT P. From ninth-grade Civics to twelfth-grade Problems of Democracy, with the intriguing U. S. and World history, world and economic geography in between, we explored old and new ideas. These classes taught by our dedicated social studies faculty provided the background for our more factual understanding of both internal and international affairs. To supplement'the basic course, we saw many interesting and lively films. We spent the year learning about our country and about many foreign countries. New rooms for almost all of us waited at the end of Christmas vacation. Our Biology Department finally had two labs in which Miss Smith, Mr. Ray, and Mr. Tomicheck explained the na- ture of living things to us. Down the hall Nlr. Tomi- check and Mr. Vargo helped us to discover and dis- cuss the many complexities of our scientific world. In the new wing, a shining new Physics lab awaited Mr. Maley's seniors and a new Chemistry lab waited for Mr. Fauly and returning iuniors. The second half of the year found some of us deep- ly engrossed in frogs, ore, steam, and equations, so engrossed that final examinations came and went be- fore we realized that school had ended.
