Once again, RMHS has played an important part in all our lives. The school has entered into many phases of our daily activity with its excellent academic program, stimulating schedule of min- or subjects, interesting and educational clubs and or- ganizations, fine athletic program, and entertaining night time social events. This balance of the essential parts of any school is well maintained at Richard Montgomery. It fhelps to mold us into mature, well-rounded individ- als ready to meet the world at graduation. For some of us, new facets of the 'balance have been opened this year. For all this has been another year of fun and preparation to face the future. Last fall the club presented Kind Lady . which proved to be a huge success. The club's schedule annually includes the production of a three act play in the fall, a one act play in the winter. and a three act spring play. Again. the one act play was entered in the play contest sponsored by Maryland Lniversity. This year. a new feature was in- troduced into the yearly events of Black Maskers. This was the get acquainted party held at the beginning of the year at which members did short skits for the club. Incorporated into the club is a chapter of the National Thespian Society, an honorary group of Black Maskers who have excelled in work and interest in dramatics. Thespians sponsored the one act play. This year, a re- organization of Black Maskers resulted in raised stand- ards of membership. The results of the new system were evident in the spring play. if M. Strong directs C. McKay, V. But to those who saw the games, it was obvious that we had one of our best teams in years. Playing against teams from schools much larger than ours, our boys fared quite well, and always fought right down to the last second. The whole season of disappoint- ments and bad luck, including a 7-6 loss to C'burg. seemed justified when we finally met a school our own size, Lackey High. The home arts course taught the girls many of the skills of homemaking. as well as giving them an enjoy- able time in the class. Mr. Malefs electronics course was a favorite among the junior and senior boys, for in it they learned not only the abstract principles of the subject. but also how to put those principles to good use in the construction of radios, electron time-relays. and other electronic devices. The reading course, taught by Mrs. King. was one in which students found themselves learning to enjoy reading and to develop speed in their reading.
