Rocket '57 Reveals Our Program of Education page 6 Our classes and our study are significant in our daily program. Directed by our teachers, supervised by our administrative staff, our classes account for most of our day. Our Graduating Class Page 20 Our seniors, their accomplishments and activities are ever-present in the life of our school. Their officers, their Christmas dance, their strengths and weaknesses, their leadership are memories of ’57. Our Underclassmen page 40 Juniors take an ever-increasing amount of leadership in activities in our school. Sophomores become old-hands as they advance from their novice year. Freshmen become adjusted to our senior high school. 4

in Our Town and in Our Lives To get to our school, one might drive north on highway 240 from the nation’s capital, about sixteen miles or so. Entering the outskirts of our town a passerby will note Beall’s Esso on the right. A glance to the left reveals our school. About two blocks from the highway is our school. Richard Montgomery High School is a red-brick building of 1941 vintage, with an addition including a gymnasium just a few years old. In the two story structure, we senior high students have a varied curriculum-college preparatory, business, general, and vocational. Our students come from the town of Rockville and its environs. Chiefly, we are middle class in economy and live as suburbanites of Washington, D.C. As we walk across the R.M.H.S. mat and into the school, we know that this—Our School—is a focal point in our town and in our lives. Waiting for school to start are V. Coleman, I’, Lintlli-eum, l5. Coleman, R. Coleman, and L. Kerr

Our School Life Our Sports Program page 56 Athletics hold our interest throughout the year. A spectacular run on the gridiron, an action-packed hockey honor event, a three-bagger on the diamond, a Friday basketball game spur us to school spirit. Student Life page 70 Our Student Council strives to give us a wide selection of activities. From dramatics to publications, from a newly-formed science club to patrols, our organizations challenge, entertain, and serve. Our Loyal Advertisers page 88 Business and industry in our town have a marked effect on our school. Notably, they have supported our publications and our athletics. Of interest to all is their sponsorship of the new stadium. 5
