Business Careers Sighted On the first floor of R.M.H.S., we see various aspects of the thorough preparation our school offers for us who are preparing business careers. Through all six periods, seniors can be counted on to handle our deposits and withdrawals under Miss Brown at the bank. They begin their training under Mrs. Robic who teaches us to bring order to journals, ledgers, and balance sheets. Down the hall the rhythmic tapping at the keyboards reveals that speed and accuracy are essentials in typing. There in the office and in Mr. Davisson’s room, students receive practical clerical training. Mrs. Nooney dictates as shorthand students strive to increase their speed. Lillian E. Brown A.B., Banking, Treasurer Fioris M. Davisson B.S., M.S., Typing, Office Practice, Key Club. Regina Kelly B.S. Typing. Mary B. Nooney B.Ed. Shorthand. Elementary Business. Betty J. Robic B.S.' Bookkeeping.

Student assistants and Mrs. Keller help ready the library for our convenience Katherine B. Keller, B.S. Librarian Books Lent; Espanol Spoken After a six-week plastering and painting job, our librarian Mrs. Keller and student assistants readied the library for another busy year. Our library added fiction for enjoyment and books for resource material. Our language department offers Latin, Spanish, and French. Though not required of all students, some of us studied languages for college requirements. We who took them enjoyed our elementary accomplishments in speaking and reading.

Universal Ideas Expressed In the composition of painting, in the melody of song, emotions common to all can be understood. Here is the Art class. We find paint brushes and clay fly fast and thick. There’s Miss Day helping one of the students. Let’s take a look. . . . C’mon, now, here’s the music room. That man in the director’s chair is Mr. Preston. Do, re, mi—Mr. Preston teaches both band and chorus classes now. Takes lots of work. Downstairs now, hear it? The band’s warming up. Nice, isn’t it? Time never weighs heavy on students here. Helen M. Day, B.A.Ed., Art, Display Cases; John B. Preston, B.Mus., M. Mus., Choral Music, Band, Glee Club An ensemble of boys rehearses “Down by the Riverside” in Mr. Preston’s sixth period class. 14
