English Skill, Tools for Thought Our school placed emphasis on creative and interpretive writing this year; English wasn’t so dull. We delved into phases of English and American literature. College preparatory students read works by the accepted masters while in other classes the emphasis was on modern writers. Above all, we became more aware that English serves as a useful tool. Miss Smith taught us to compose forceful letters. Mr. Jeffery helped us to interpret meaning in plays like Our Town.

Our mathematics department has had a big year. Many of our students are going into the more advanced areas of math. General students and commercials study practical phases of mathematics.
