I UJe Present the 2 3 Step by step 3ovewovd We wish to give you a picture of a complete story lived at Rich Valley High School. This edition of our Lasso is full of unforgettable events inscribing our cherished memories during our four years in this school. All the studying and worrying about exams, the cramming for a special task, the gripes, the hard knocks-may soon fade in our memories-but there are many things which will never fade. We hope you will enjoy this year book and that it will be something to cherish in the years to come. This is a glimpse into life as we see it, but soon it will be only a cherished memory—no longer a reality-- Follow our year as we attempt to picture our work (classes), our play (athletics), our activities (clubs), our guides (teachers), our supporters (adver¬ tisers), and yes, ourselves (seniors), in this Footprints In Our Time. - UUe work and play.. CONTENTS Introduction Administration Faculty Classes Clubs Athletics Senior Superlatives A c om o nf c Scenes Dedication Dear Mr. Eversole, This is just a little gesture on our behalf to show you how much we deeply appreciate the many things you have done for us. We can recall just four years ago when we had the honor of being in one of your classes or homeroom. Many times we know you were disappointed in us but you kept striving and pointing out that someday we would finish high school. Can you see us about at the finishing point? Of course you can, because you gave us the hope, courage, and told us that you were going to see us finish at Rich Valley. As we become future citizens of the Rich Valley community we want you to know that we are proud in being one of your students. We feel that your guidance, knowledge, and strength will prove to be most worthwhile, because you believe in us. In deepest gratitude we are proud to dedicate our yearbook, The 1961 Lasso, to you, Mr. Eversole. Peggy Cook 8 flllriira 10 11 RAYMOND M. Dear Friends, The Seniors of 1961 wish to express their thanks and appreciation to all who have helped us so faithfully in publishing this, our 1961 year book. Had it not been for your wonderful help and cooperation we could not have achieved this goal. We selected as our theme, FOOT PRINTS IN OUR TIMES, to bring together the different phases of our high school life. We hope that our four years here have definitely left some footprints; for these years have been very happy and enlight¬ ening to us as seniors. We hope that these experiences at Rich Valley High School will help us in the years to come to face life constantly as we make other footpri nts in the future. We learned to work together and live together in looking forward for the years to be happier as we have lived each day. And so this, our farewell gesture to our high school, is one of sincere appreciation for ones who have helped us. So to you, our parents, our teachers, our classmates, and our advertisers, we say that we are deeply grateful for the opportunity of living these four years and of making our FOOTPRINTS IN OUR TIMES worth while Sincerely, SALTVILLE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Our Purpose: To serve our Community To Create Civic-Mindness Community Cooperation To Further The Growth of our Community To Create Closer Relationship in our Community at your ABINGDON GROCERY COMPANY Best Wishes to the Seniors of Rich Valley High School Abingdon Virginia GREEVERS INC.
