Fine and Applied Arts Curriculum expansion in the Fine and Applied Arts Division included courses in electronics, notehand, and a survey course in fine arts. Especially active this year was the music department, developing a men's glee club, a full orchestra, and a stage band. Pre-school children enjoyed a playschool sponsored by the home economics department, while the whole school was benefited by a display of outstanding arts and crafts projects. Throughout the year, effort was made to integrate the activities of the division's various departments. Mr. Cottingham draws attention as he comes to the aid of a puzzled student. Mathematics curriculum was expanded this year by the addition of two new courses in algebra. Also begun was a system of programmed learning involving the use of teaching machines in such subjects as computer mathematics and trigonometry. Advanced physical science and senior science were a major part of the Science Division's expansion this year, offering a wider variety of choice to science-minded students. Honors and seminar programs were continued in both parts of the division.
