The Rich 'LDiamondmen7, went all the way to capture the Southwest Suburban Conference crown in 1961. The impressive 14-3 record was climaxed during the District play-offs when Rich lost to Crete-Monee by a score of 5-4. Powered by the teamls most valuable player, Jim Russell, the Rockets' batting record was one to be envied. Fielding and pitching, in keeping with Rich tradition, were best in the Conference. FROSH-SOPH After capturing the Southwest Suburban Conference Championship from Evergreen Park 6-0, the Little Rockets finished the season with an impressive ll-5-1 record. Outstanding hurler, Carter Hill, came through with eight wins and two losses. Coach John Orr's leading hitters were Al Freidin, Bob Maeyama, John Sweeney, and Bob Webster. FRESHMEN Starting with an ll-9 victory over Thornton Frac- tional South, the Baby Rockets kept up their en- thusiasm, although they ended the year with four wins, five losses, and one tie.
