Members practiced new cheers, made flash cards and banners for the games and sponsored fan buses for away games. It Ml 'S Illllll The R Men's Club is composed of boys who have earned a varsity letter in athletic competition. Sponsored by Mr. Rodney Hanson, the organization ushered at school assemblies and athletic events and sponsored a sock hop during the basketball season. Swartz Under the direction of coaches George Acker and Iim Fisher, the newly organized tennis team was quickly molded into shape. The Rockets compiled a seven won, five lost record against some of the toughest competition in the state, including defending state- champions, Hinsdale. G0ll The golf team, coached by Eugene Zuccarini, finished its regular season with a record of six victories and five defeats. In conference competition the Rockets were undefeated until the Conference meet when they lost to Carl Sandburg. Brian Mays was the spark-plug of the team and climaxed the season by shooting a four-over- par 76 to qualify for state competition.
