NWI EEIllllIlE A highlight of the holiday season was Winterlude , the winter formal sponsored by the junior class and held in the social hall on December 23. The juniors decorated the scene with snow- flakes, an open sleigh, a silver tree, frosted windows and mistletoe. Presented by the Speech-Drama department, the play was directed by Miss Elizabeth Brant. The story centered around Mrs. Howard V. LaRue, a rich widow, and her son Howay. It showed how the LaRue household became involved with the witch, Mrs. McThing, who cast a spell on them. The situation further entangled them with the notorious Shantyland Pool Hall mob, which added to the turmoil.
