Most of you will see it: I intend to! Men will have wealth untold, and there will be less hunger in the world. Any hunger in the twenty-first century could be more spiritual than physical. What can you do to keep it from our door? First - promise yourself a good family life, for it is the very essence of freedom. Secondly - promise yourself that every- body will have the chance to grow toward excellence. Thirdly - keep your mind open, with a desire to mix with men, ideas, and things. Let's THINK ourselves into the twenty- first century. That will take dynamic motivation and creative individualism. Let it be said of your generation: It was successful because it used the power it already had! Dr. Robert G. The continuation of high standards and traditions, as well as the success ot new ideas and activities rest largely in the junior class' attitude and school spirit. Diligence, cooperation and hard work characterized the juniors as they participated in Homecoming, constructing the winning float, sponsored the Christmas formal, Winterlude, and a mother-daughter social. Their final goal was to provide the graduating class with a lasting memory of high school life, the Iunior-Senior Prom. Page 51 Y, ,W , ..- A F S. Etlgilfl., ,A ClASS Sharon Benson. Iunior Prize-winning float in Homecoming Parade. The word sophomore is derived from two Greek words meaning foolish and wise , and the word sophomore really fits the transition which the class has made. From the beginning of the year which carried overtones of the foolish freshmen, the class has progressed - they built a homecoming float, handled the coat-check concession and elected class officers, Dick Horchler, Kathy Kaericher, Ianice Young and Patricia Craddock, and student council representatives, Tom Eisner, Ian Furgason, Kathi Norris and Iim Klutznick. Both scholastically and athletically the sophomores were distinguished with many students qualifying for the honor roll and many being active in varsity debate, tennis and music. JOYCE ROTMAN fe Treasurer, BOB CAMPBELL - - Vice President, SARA MAY -V Secretary, and BILLY BELNAP President It's a big step from being the rulers of the grammar school set to the lowly freshmen in high school: over four hundred individuals, quaking and apprehensive, took this step this year and began the seemingly endless four year climb. Problems soon laced the freshmen. To help solve these, they elected Iim Pyne, Iohn Winger, and Monty Hughes to represent them in student government and Billy Belnap, Sara May, Ioyce Rotman, and Bob Compbell to lead them in class activities. With tremendous eagerness, the freshmen began to participate in extracurricular activities and soon became known for their athletic prowess in football and basketball, and for their scholastic achievement on the honor roll. Slowly, one step at a time, the many individuals are uniting to form the graduating class of 1962. Page 67 4- f'e11F'reL 'AX ffl r J if . xx.
