Glass flislary When in September, twelve years ago, one eager group entered primary school for the first time, little did they think that twelve years later they would be entering that same school, but entering the twelfth grade, and for the last time. The beginning was a long time ago, but it seems as only yesterday that this class was beginning the fundamentals of reading, riting, and 'rithmetic. This great adventure and experience began under Miss Putnam. The first grade was a wonderful part of our life, because it was our first meeting. Little did We realize that these little strangers around us would become our fast friends, and stay around for the next eleven years. But soon the year was over, and most of us were promoted to the second grade. When we entered the second grade we were thirty strong. Miss Dorothine Massey was our teacher and we loved her very dearly. In this grade we left coloring and began learning reading and printing. The most remembered event this year was the daily reading circles. In these circles we became expert readers. When we entered the third grade our class was enlarged by the students from Lasker. These included Virginia Bobbitt, Nancy Collier, Selma Parker, Leo Barnes, Elton Smith, and Donnie Wade. After losing two in the second, our number was now thirty-four. Our studies in the third grade were based chiefly on nature. Mrs. Olive Askew was our teacher. With our entrance into the fourth grade our number was boosted to thirty-nine which was the largest number ever to be in our class. Mrs. Lucy Parker guided us and soon we were in the fifth grade. The fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades passed fast with our number slowly decreasing, our knowledge increasing, and our world broadening. Our teachers those years were Miss Helen Massey, Miss White, Mrs. Hornok, and Miss Taylor, respectively. And then we were ready for high school, or at least entering it, whether we were ready or not. Our Freshman year was a new, exciting part of our history. We elected Linwood Lane as president, but Bobby Harrington, our vice- president, took over when Linwood moved to Woodland. Virginia Bobbitt
