In i IAQ Ko JR' Commander Leslie K. Fenlon Jr., was born and raised in Clinton, Iowa, attended the University of Iowa for two years, and entered the Navy in I944. After one year of enlisted service, he entered the U. S. Naval Academy, graduating in I9-49. His commissioned service has included tours on USS MISSOURI IBB- 63l, USS PURSUIT lAGI7l, as Commanding Officer of USS PCE-874, and as Executive Officer of USS BIGELOW IDD9-42l. Between sea tours, Com- mander Fenlon served as an instructor at the U. S. Naval Academy, Gnd in the Bureau of Naval Personnel. While on duty at the Bureau, he earned a Master's Degree in Inter- national Relations from American University. His duty immediately pre- vious to reporting to USS RICH IDD 820l was on a Joint Military Assist- ance Advisory Group staff in the Republic of Korea. Commander Fenlon is a I963 graduate of the Command and Staff Course at the Naval WOF College. He is married to the former Mary Jane Kinkaid of Thorndale, Penn- I sy vania. I CAPTAIN CAPTAIN WILLIAM HARRISON MACK UNITED STATES NAVY Captain William Harrison Mack, USN, was born in Washington, D.C., on October 3, I9I7, the son of the late Colonel J. A. Mack, Iret.I and Mrs. Mack of Charleston, South Carolina. He was graduated from the United States Naval Academy with the class of I9-40. Captain Mack reported to the cruiser USS NEW ORLEANS ICA-32I in July, I94O, to serve in her Gunnery Department until his transfer to the USS ATLANTA ICLAA-5II in October, I94I. He served with the AT- LANTA until her loss in mid-November, I942, off Guadalcanal, when he was transferred to the USS BUNKER HILL ICV-I7I to serve as Assistant Gunnery Officer. I In October, I944, Captain Mack reported to the USS OKLAHOMA CITY ICL-9II to serve as Assistant Gunnery Officer and then as Gunnery Officer. He served aboard the OKLAHOMA CITY until December I946, when he reported to the Naval Academy as an instructor. He reported to the USS VOGELGESANG IDD 862I in July, I949, and served as her Executive Officer until November, I950, when he took command of the USS EARLE B. HALL IAPD-I07l. Captain Mack took com- mand of the USS BORIE IDD 70-'ll in August, I95I, and served with her until October, I952, when he was detached for duty with the Office of the Navy Comptroller. I Captain Mack assumed command of USS WILLIS A. LEE IDL-lil in July, I955, and served with her until reporting tothe Research Division, Bureau of Ordnance in September, I957. In July, I959, he reported to the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations to serve in Fleet Readiness and Opera- tions, Budget Programs. He attended the Naval War Collegein Newport, R.I., as a student from August, I96I until June, I962. In July, I962, he took command of the USS CAMBRIA IAPA-36I. Captain Mack reported to the headquarters of the Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic in August, I963, to serve as Financial Controller until 25 June, I965. On I July, I965, he assumed command ofDestroyer Squadron .TWO homeported in Norfolk, Va. His flagship is the USS BLANDY IDD 943I. He is married to the former Miss Ruth Garner Lambert of Arlington, Virginia and they have two children, Claire Louise, II, and Peter Lam- bert, 9. WILLIAM II. MACK
