The lines have all been taken in, Our good-byes have been said. The time has come for us to sail, To the Sixth Fleet in the Med. For some of you ..... this is quite new, A iourney overseas. But you will cherish and retain A lot of memories. We'll have a lot of free time, We'll have a lot to see. It can be great ..... it can be bad, lt's up to you and me. But it isn't just a pleasure cruise, We'll work along the way. And when the work is quickly done, There'll be a time for play. Our G.Q.'s will come often, And lots of drills there'll be. And whether they're successful, Depends o'n you and me. PROLOGUE There'll be chipping ..... there'll be painting From the foc'sle to the stern. There'll be lectures ..... there'll be For the things we have to learn. The ocean may be somewhat rough, However, don't despair. There'll be some others on the ship, To share our mal de mar. training, We'll have a chance to see new sights, New lands to explore. A chance to make a host of friends, For us there's lots in store. The tours that will be offered, Are the finest in the land. They're worth the price you hav And are very carefully planned Be sure and have a camera, Whene'er you go ashore. There'll be so many scenes to snap, And keep forever more. Ari verderci ..... Au revoir ..... Whatever the case may be. You'll learn to speak the language, Of the Mediterranean Sea. The countries that we visit, Are much older than our land. Remember that their way of life, To them is also grand. We must respect their customs, e to pay Good manners we must display. Good will we must exhibit, For that's the American way. ln all the ports we visit, Ambassadors we'lI be. And the image of America, Will be iudged accordingly.
