THE FINANCIAL REPORT OF THE CLASS OF '59 Remember the first day of high school . . . we were ambitious, excited, I Picture Noi' Available eager . . . they took our .157 and sent us home . . . Every book had to be covered . .. there were UVM covers for 5 cents, but for another 7 cents we bought real Cathedral covers . . . Weren't we shocked when test time rolled around and we had to pay 5 cents for each exam . . . Remember the first day those little white books were passed out and those immortal words uttered, Everyone will be responsible for the sale of one book of chances . . . Remember the 10 cent chewing tax on a penny piece of gum Cand they rtill wouldn't let us chew itj . . . Ours was a lending library . . . that is, one of your friends would lend you the money to pay your fine . . . Oh well! We never had to worry about lugging any heavy money around . . . there was always a collection for something or other . .. birthday cakes, sunshine baskets, get-well cards . . . Ah, yes! ! Senior Privileges! Merit scholarship exam 351, I.Q. Test 351, Mathematics Achievement Test 30 cents, Scholarship Qualifying Test 551, College Entrance Examina- tion Boards S7 . . . Well, this year we moved into our brand new high school, the last word in education . . . and now we realize . . . that's where our money went ! l fAny similarity to actual events, past or present, is wholly intentional, i.e., it is our holy intentionj Financially yours, THE CLASS OF '59
