T0 filtl lllt CII lllllSlS I FAITH We, the graduating class of 1950, sincerely congratulate Brother Principal for his out- standing accomplishments in the mental and physical development of the Catholic youth under his guidance. During his fruitful tenure as head of Rice High School various improve- ments were needed throughout the building. Not procrastinating his work, the improve- ments were carefully completed, and the students welcomed their new environment. The marvelous decorations of the chapel, new equipment, the painting of the halls and classrooms of the school are convincing evi- dence of his magnanimous character. His endeavors in the spiritual education of the students have brought numerous boys to serve Christ as priests and Brothers. Rice High School sends more students to West Park than any other contemporary source. Rev. Brother O'Sullivan was born in Water- ford, Ireland some fifty-two years ago and after finishing his secondary education. he proceeded to dedicate his life to Christian youth by becoming a member of the Christian Brothers of Ireland. His early teaching days found him at Mount St. Francis and St. Bona- venture's College in St. Iohn's, Newfound- land. He was then sent to All Hallows, New York and then to St. Leo's. Chicago where he brought the football team to the pinnacle of success. Then Brother O'Sullivan completed his required studies at Gonzaga University where he was awarded the degree of Master of Arts. In 1944, he was appointed principal of Rice High School. We wish Brother O'Sul- livan the best of luck in his glorious work for They that shall instruct others unto justice shall shine as stars for all eternity. Rev. Donald Hartman, first graduate of Rice to be raised to the Holy Priesthood, graduated from our school in 1942. I-le entered the Salvatorian Iunior Seminary and on completing the courses prescribed entered the Maior Seminary of St. Mary at Emmitsburg, Maryland. Father Hart- man has been assigned to a diocese in the mid- west. May Our Blessed Lord grant him long and fruitful ears and ma Father Hartman be Brother Principal complies with the many requests for his autograph. Y 1 Y the first of a long line of Ricemen who will dedi- cate their lives to His service. , nnv'-
