..Thi-Hi-Y, The purpose of the Tri-Hi-Y club is To create, maintain, and extend through- out the home, school, and community, high standards of Christian Character . Tri-Hi-Y is a service club. Some ofthe services they are doing are packing baskets to send to the needy families in the area, making scrapbooks for little children, and collecting puzzles for hospitals. A Can Dance was held and the admissions of cans of food were used to pack the baskets. They are sending money to World Service. They are planning on having a banquet and also one night to be hostesses to the Hi-Y. They are planning on sending the officers to the Spring Conference and next year's officers to Summer Training Conference. OFFICERS President ............... Barbara Kelch Vice-President . . .... Nancy Morton These officers and Jeanne Miller, the chairman of committees, attended the officers' training session at Grove City during the summer. Being well trained and enthusiastic, they planned an eventful year for the Tri-Hi-Y for 1954-1955. Lewis, E. Knepp, E. U-CLUB The main purpose of the U-Club is to promote sportsmanship in the school and to develop leadership. In order to gain membership in the club, a student must earn a letter in athletics and be voted on by the members of the club. Those taken into the club this year are as follows: Bob Russin, Read Katzeman, Pat Dunn, Bob Bowen, Jim Dickey, Jack Hrinda, Bill Youschak, and Dan Woitovich. The U-Club was in full charge of the 1954 Homecoming celebrations. The student body chose Nancy Andrews queen, and her attendants were Sally Ball, Pat Coates, Gloria Angerer, and Carol Heckman. The highlight of the evening was the crown- ing of the Queen by Carl Meeder. On the night of the Harborcreek Vs. Union game, a parade was held beore the game and a dance after the game. The U-Club pur- chased new jackets for the graduating seniors of the club. This year were thirteen seniors who received jackets. Hrinda. Advisor .... . . Mr. Murray President . . . . . . . a.g?'i!jF+:'--- Y- Y-TEE This is the third year that the Y Teens has been active at Union. The club is associated with the Y. W. C. A. and this gives its members the privilege to attend the activities at the Y in Erie. The purpose of Y Teens is as follows: To grow as a person: to grow in friendship with people of all races, religions, and nationalities: to grow in the knowledge and love of God . During the summer Carol Heckman and Lois Orr represented our club at Silver Bay where a Y Teens convention was held. Y Teens has been very active this year under the competent leadership of our president, Lois Orr and advisor Miss Duff. At the beginning of the year the club inaugurated a Big-Sister, Little- Sister program. The purpose was for each senior girl to help afreshman girl get acquainted. They held a party for their little sisters in the gym at which the senior girls received their pins and the junior girls were initiated. A Thanksgiving assembly was put on by the Y Teens girls. The theme was Count Your Blessings . It was very well planned and much work was put into it by the Chairlady, Mary F. Lininger. A Thanksgiving dance was held on the same day. Bob Connors from Erie was the Master of Ceremonies. It was carefully planned and was very successful through the hard work of the Chairlady, Pat Keller. Christmas stockings were filled and sent to the poor, as our Christmas pro- ject. A Mother and daughter Banquet is being planned, also a splash party at the Y. President .... . . ..........
