Mr, Morris, Mr. Come, and Mr. Murray-Coaches MA AGER FIRST ROW: T. Leroux, J. Carlson, B. Frost, A. Amidon. SECOND ROW: B. Stubbe, C. Jeffords, B. Martin. This year's group of managers is the largest one in Union history. With our increased sports department it has been necessary to raise the number of managers. All the managers have and are doing a fine job and under the fine leadership of Head Football Manager Tom Leroux and Head Basketball Man- ager Allen Amidon, our boys deserve an extra hand. We of the sports staff salute you! Too many times the manager or water bucket boy is the forgotten man on the team. We have found that no team can be without a manager. They often are here at the high school hours before and after the players have practiced and have gone home. We again salute you. CUACHI G STAFF Our coaching staff this year consists of four able men, Mr. Murray, head foot- ball and basketball coach, Mr. Morris, Assistant football and junior high basket- ball coach, Mr. Lepich, J.V. basketball coach tabsent when picture was takenj and Mr. Come, who will be our baseball coach and is our faculty manager. Under Coach Murray's guidance we won the 1954 B Class Crown and al- though our record in this year's football wasn't successful as far as records go, Coach Red taught us good, hard, clean and sportsmanlike football. Our basketball season to date, under his guidance, has proven to be successful. Mr. Morris and Mr. Lepich combined their ability in coaching the J.V. football and J.V. basketball teams respectively. Under Mr. Morris the J.V. football team had a successful season. To date the J.V. basketball team has been winning re- gularly. Mr. Come is a new-comer to the coaching staff but not to coaching. Under his guidance as Faculty Manager, he has improved our sporting department greatly. We know he will bring us a good team on the diamond. Besides baseball, track will also be offered for the first time. Mr. Murray will be in charge of this year's crew. We are beginners in this sport but we know we will field a good team.

L VAR ITY BA KETBALL FIRST ROW: R. Einfeldt, G. Fish, Captain J. Branch, C. Meeder, T. Woitovich, SECOND ROW: Manager A. Amidon, L. Baker, K. Johnson, J. McClelland, J. Waller, R. Murray, C. Klein, L. Stubbe, Coach R. Murray. The Varsity this year has continued its self pace that it ended with last season. Having eight returning letter winners from last year, the varsity won its first three games before dropping its first and only game to date to Conneaut, Ohio. The team then returned to the winning column by defeating all its opponents up to Christmas Vacation. They then made Union history by winning the first Class B County Holliday Tournaxnent held at Albion. All the Class B teams in the county competed. From there the team went on, winning the first half County Class B Championship. Our team has been averaging about 65 pts. per game but the boys realize that winning the game is the most important thing because that is what counts. There are nine Seniors on the team who have brought back their experience from last year. An unusual fact about our team is that all of our first starting five have been high scorers in our games so far. This has helped us greatly because our opponents may stop a few of us, but not all. The boys know that the greatest test will come in the race for the second half crown, they will be trying their utmost to eliminate a playoff at the end of the season. Lots of luck, fellows. JUNIUR VAR ITY FIRST ROW: J. Bowen, D. Woitovich, Captain B. Bowen, J. Johnson, D. Andrews, B. Martin. SECOND ROW: L. Daugherty, B. Holliday, M. Astor, K. Lesko, D. Goodwin. G. Brown fAbsent when picture was taken.J Coach Lepich was also absent. The Junior Varsity, under Coach Lepich, has come through with seven wins and five losses--record to date. Led by their Captain Bobby Bowen the boys have been playing good, steady, basketball. Coach Lepich has been using almost all the boys in their gamesg this will benefit each player and will bring about better future varsity teams. The Junior Varsity's are not too tall, but what they lack in height they make up for in speed in their fast breaks. We wish the junior varsity players a lot of luck and a successful season! ! !
